Title: In Her Shoes
Author: Jennifer Weiner
Reflection: In Her Shoes is a book I would definitely reccomend to a friend. I've never seen the movie, but I would like to after reading this book. The things I liked about this book were, it was hard to put down. All the dialouge the author used, wasn't boring and kept me interested in the book. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next to the two sisters in the book. Also, it wasn't a book that you could tell wouldn't relate to anyone. It had sisters arguing, and going after eachother but end then end, bailing eachother out and just being there for eachother just like real life is. It was a fiction book that was very relatable to just about anyone in some way. In the book, you could easly relate to someone's personality. I also like how the author used real life situations. In one part of the book, the "goody goody" sister that was always on top of her game, really smart, organized and didnt't know much about fashion, had to bail her sister who was lazy, a moocher and just didn't want to grow up, out of another situation. Pretty much anyone could relate to that. Everyone's was different and it kept the book interesting how one person would use part of their personality towards another. The only thing I didn't like about this book, was that it was really long, especially for anyone that doesn't like to read all that much and it took a long time to finish. But it's worth it.
Questions: Do the characters seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know?
- The characters in this book definitely seem real and I can relate to their predicaments. I think anyone could. The two sisters in the book remind me of my little sister and I. When we are older, I can see myself as the one the needs help or needs to be bailed out of a situation and her being the one to the rescue because she is like the sister that is always organized and tries extra hard in life to be successful.
In what ways do the events in the book reveal evidence of the author's world view?
- In the book, she uses real life situtaions. For example, you have the crazy sister the doesn't want to take responsibilty for her actions and when a hook up with a guy goes wrong, she has to call on her sister to pull her out of the situation once again. Not just the author, but anyone could see a situation like that or simular in their life.
